Hello. What is the difference between the words die Brüste and der Busen? Is one of
Busen: bosom Nowadays "Busen" is not used to generally refer to bosom/chest anymore, but is the neutral, more educated term to refer to a womans breasts. die Brust: breast commonly used to refer to either "one breast" or generally to "chest". It can also refer to "Busen", but it's more common to use the plural, "die Brüste", when you want to refer to a womans breasts. "Busen" is originally a poetic expression in my opinion, and thus "Brüste" or "Brust" is much more common in my opinion, and also the frequently used term in medicine (doctors often use latin expressions, especially when refering to certain procedures ("Mammographie")) For me at least, both terms are erfectly acceptable and neutral, no objectification or something like that at all. "Busen" just sounds a little more formal/educated, but not that much.
